AUTHENTIC 1962 GIBSON LES PAUL SG STANDARD GUITAR SERIAL # 54302 AND MATCHING HARDSHELL CASE
.......my parents bought this new guitar for me in 1962... after using it in wedding and bar bands I put it in my bedroom closet on New Years Day 1980 and haven't picked it up since... it's time for her to make sweet music again .... has a nice wide fretboard and very low soft touch action to the strings --- I remember it as my go-to guitar of choice.....  the only one I kept.
THIS IS LIKE FINDING A 1962 CORVETTE IN A BARN !!

BUT THIS 1962 GUITAR IS GOOD AS THE DAY I PUT HER IN THE CLOSET 40+YEARS AGO....... AND SHE DOESN'T NEED ANYTHING BUT NEW STRINGS !!!.
EVERYTHING TOTALLY ORIGINAL INCLUDING HUMBUCKERS, RHEOSTATS, TUNERS.... HAS NEVER HAD ANY WORK OR REPAIR

GIBSON FACTORY DOESN'T AUTHENTICATE INDIVIDUAL INSTRUMENTS, BUT I HAVE AN EMAIL FROM THEM DATED 05/19/2011 THAT SAYS ..."
SERIAL # 54302 IS CONSISTENT WITH A MODEL MADE IN 1962 IN KALAMAZOO, MI ...Jon Sutherland Gibson Customer Service" ....
includes all original hang tag, care instructions, bill of sale.
BEAUTY MARKS FROM 18 YRS (1962 thru 1980) OF USE THAT MAY NOT BE OBVIOUS IN THE PHOTOS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
There are only 2 dings on the face of the guitar (see white pointer in photos for locations)....
to the top side of the lower pickup is an indentation from a shoulder strap buckle that was dropped on it --- surface finish not broken just dented
to the bottom side of the black guard is a smaller indentation from a knock against something --about the size of a pencil lead tip -- surface finish not broken just dented
There is a hairline crack in the finish on the back at the base of the neck on one side of the strap button where the body and neck join.

On the back edge of the body near the strap button is a large black smudge on top of the finish from an apparent scrape against  something... surface finish not broken, cracked or dented underneath this black ... cosmetic.
On bottom right edge of the tailpiece cover is a piece of scotch tape that I haven't tried to remove.
