Description
This listing is for a Vintage 1966 Gretsch Country Gentleman model 6122. This guitar is being sold as a body husk and will need a full repair and restoration. As you can see the guitar is missing most of the parts and will come as pictured. This guitar has a lot of potential and is an excellent project for a skilled guitar tech or luthier or would be great for a customized Gretsch hotrod project. The guitar main issue that will need to be addressed on the guitar are the binding. The binding is cracked and missing at numerous places around the body. Binding rot is very common on old Gretsch guitars. The neck angle is good and in my opinion the guitar does not need a neck reset and with a good bridge and tailpiece the guitar should be a fairly straightforward set up. There is a light surface crack along the back of the neck. I don't believe the crack goes very deep and isn't open. It's something any buyer should be aware of but since the crack is not deep it's not that serious an issue and I'm not sure what a repair would entail or what benefit it would really offer. The truss rod works fine and turns in both directions and the neck crack is not being caused by the truss rod being overtightened or anything like that. The guitar comes as pictured. The original double mute is still in the guitar but will need repair. The guitar also comes with the original truss rod cover and headstock plate. The guitar will need the pickups, wiring, tuners, bridge and tailpiece. Other than the binding damage the guitar is in good cosmetic shape and only shows light finish checking and other wear. Please look at the pictures and message with questions. The guitar comes with a gig bag and will be expertly packed for safe shipping. Because this guitar will obviously require repair and restoration it is being sold AS-IS with no returns or refunds. Thanks for looking,,
