The item up for bids is an exceptional vintage minimalist modern walnut and aluminum cross by the Daystar Manufacturing Company of Van Nuys, California. The solid bar stock aluminum is inset into the walnut and extends outward beyond the wood at all four points. The lines are long and straight and crisp. The stepped-back angles in combination with the contrasting colors of the aluminum and wood make for a striking sculptural presentation. It has a recessed hanger hole in the back so it sits flush against the wall, and it's signed with a silver foil Daystar Design sticker. It is a superb piece of 1970s era California modern design, have some fun and bid!
Condition
:
It's in good vintage condition. There are no chips or cracks. The original finish on the wood looks great with a beautiful dark brown surface, it's not dried out or faded. The aluminum is in good shape with crisp edges and corners. The aluminum surface has minor scuffs and scratches. The pictures are the best indicator as to condition, please use the zoom feature and check them out.
