Description
Summary:This is a rare & wonderful vintage Hagstrom Concord C-2 Deluxe bass guitar. My research says they probably only made 150 of this Deluxe model! This one comes with a vintage but beat up old case but we will package it well & ship it fully insured through Reverb.com.
Body:
Semi-hollow body with a fully bound flame maple top & back – this instrument also has 2 fully bound f-holes on the top.
Neck:
Two piece birch with fully bound ebony fingerboard, Fender style headstock, raised plastic Hagstrom logo, original tuning keys, block pearloid inlays, original Van Ghent gold tuning keys.
Pickups/Hardware:
Two single-coil pickups, Chrome plated throughout. Deluxe Crest tailpiece with micro-matic bridge. Individual closed-gear Van Ghent tuning keys, pearloid block inlays, raised “Hagstrom” logo on the headstock
Cosmetics:
This old Hagstrom shows lots of normal vintage wear consistent with a well-played but loved instrument from the 1960’s. There are lots of dings & scratches on the body – one big ding on the upper horn that cracked the binding but it looks stable for now. This bass has lots of wear around the edges of the headstock and part of the binding on the very top of the headstock is missing. There are holes on the body that are meant for a pickguard but the instrument is missing the pickguard. There is some finish cracking near the bridge volume knob & near the treble side f-holes. Structurally this bass is ready to roll and all of the various dings & dents give the bass a ton of character & charm.
Playability:
This light-weight vintage Hagstrom plays great – the action is low & the instrument feels good up & down the ebony fingerboard. The frets show some wear but they have a lot of life left in them.
Modifications:
N/A
Weight:
6 lbs, 10 oz.
Case:
This instrument does have the original form fit Hagstrom case but it is pretty beat up…..3 of the latches are still working but the back of the case is not connected & parts of the case are held together with duct tape. I did find the pickguard bracket inside the case – but no pick guard and no pickguard screws.
