Vintage Saxon “Alligator” Wrench w Die Taps: 5/16’ = 8; ½’ = 13; 3/8” = 10, made by Drop Forged Steel Technique in Killborn & Bishop Company, New Haven CT. Called an “alligator” wrench (because its shape like an “alligator’s mouth”) it was used to turn iron and steel pipes and rods which could not be turned with a regular wrench.Pipefitters and plumbers often used these tools. Played a prominent use in the Railroad Industry. Used, but in excellent condition with no rust. Dimensions: L: 8-1/2”; W: 2-1/8 (large jaw).
